Hi everyone…
I just watched a documentary last night on Food Network that talked about the development of the fast food chains. Anyway, in the beginning, it spoke of KFC and how Colonel Sanders used a pressure cooker to deep fry his chicken. Does anyone know how to do this? I’ve used my pressure cooker for various other things, like roasts, stews and soups, but never did anything involving oil or frying. Any suggestions? I’d really love to try this.
Thanks!
And, btw, please don’t answer that I should just go to KFC! LOL

its easy, just throw some oil in that bad boy and go to town. be careful though, i started a fire once heating up the oil(let it go for 2 long) and also make sure u have a couple of fans goin cuz it tends to leave ur house pretty smelly
i don’t think the home pressure cookers are safe for this. sounds dangerous.
Never ever deep fry in pressure cooker…
I’m an old hand at pressure cookin’. What they mean is to “pre-cook” the chicken for 10 to 15 minutes at pressure then deep fry it. this cuts down on cooking time considerably. Now when you deep fry the chicken it only takes maybe 10 to 12 minutes (enough to brown it). It also insures that the chicken will be done all the way through no matter how thick the pieces are. Hope this helps you.
If your pressure cooker is electric,I would think you would be able to fry chicken in it,because I use a deep fryer it’s electric and there is a lid on it , but you do not have to use the lid ,you can use a splatter screen if you have one, this is probably the safer way to do it anyway, due to the fact that a pressure cooker has a lock on it or a very tight seal, while the chicken is being fried, just be cautious as with any version of frying with hot oil.Fill the pot halfway with oil ,before turning on the burner ,then set the temperature at 350 degrees wait until the temperature reaches 350 degrees first, carefully place chicken into the pot,as not to splatter the oil as it will pop especially when adding meat to hot oil.If your pressure cooker is the old type (not electric) you will just need to place pot on burner add oil half way up the pan, turn burner on med high, let oil get hot enough that when you put water a tiny tiny bit of water on your finger tips and flick it into the oil carefully and back away from the pan, it will start popping immediately, wait until the oil has stopped popping ,then it is heated enough to add chicken cautiously again I stress as it will splatter, when adding whatever you are frying. So wash your chicken parts dry with paper towel ,season with black pepper, garlic salt, onion powder, salt and paprika, roll in all purpose flour and your ready to fry some finger licking good chicken. Hope this answers your question.
Pressure cook the chicken and then place it in a fryer!
DO NOT fill a pressure cooker with oil and bring it up to pressure! Very dangerous.
Pressure cooking cooks by ramming hot steam through the meat. Frying transfers heat from oil to the meat. You don’t want to put OIL under high pressure and temperature!
It’s two separate steps to peform this safely.
Hmmm…….deep fry in pressure cooker.
Hmm…………Never heard of it…^_^
