Is it alright to parboil beef and pork ribs in a pressure cooker before putting in the oven?

I want to cook some ribs, would it be okay to put them in the pressure cooker to get them tender before i put them in the oven?

The best ribs are rubbed with a spice blend of your liking and then baked at no more than 200 degrees until tender. Throw them on a grill for a while on then sauce them. I think pressure cookers take flaver away.

While it is possible and it would cut down on your cooking time do Not do it.

You are boiling out fat. Fat does 2 things:

    1. It is part of the flavor
    2. As you slow cook the rubs if you boil the ribs the fat is gone and so you run the risk of having dry tough ribs with out the fat being there to release into the meat making them juicy and tender.

I usually boil water with about a cup of apple cider vinegar or regular vinegar (this works as a tenderizer) and add some pickling spices to the water and boil ribs for 20 minutes before baking or grilling. Amazing flavor, just add some Sweet Baby Rays BBQ sauce, and enjoy. Yum mo!
