is it normal for a pressure cooker to spit a little water while coming up to pressure?

the way this one works is that a metal peg moves up when it comes to pressure, but before then, a little water will spit out that part…it settles down after the metal peg goes up but just wondering if it’s normal for a little water so spit out. do i need a new pressure cooker? thanks.

that’s normal – as the water heats, the pressure (and steam) must be able to escape somehow, or the whole apparatus will explode!

be sure to let the cooker rest and use the release mechanism to clear the pressure after your cooking is complete!

I believe that is normal. I don’t cook with one but I hear they are terrific for certain foods. Actually sealing in the flavor.

If you follow the instructions it does tell you about the pressure and most importantly how to open it when it’s finished. Careful!
